Minutes of a meeting of the Environment committee held remotely using Zoom on 18th May 2020 at 19.30

Present: Cllrs Adeyemi, Hauton, Manders, Trought and Walker
In attendance: Clerk to Council, Mrs S Knowles
Cllrs Broad & Callan observed the meeting 

No members of public were present

1. To consider apologies and accept valid reasons for absence - It was RESOLVED: That apologies be accepted from Cllr Smith.

2. To receive members’ declarations of disclosable pecuniary, non-disclosable pecuniary or non-pecuniary interests in relation to any agenda item –Cllr Trought declared a pecuniary interest in matters relating to planning application 20/0315/HOUS – 33 Hillman Close.
 

3. To confirm the minutes of the Environment committee held on 21st April 2020 - It was RESOLVED: That the minutes of the meeting held on 21st April 2020 be approved and signed as a true copy by the chairman.
 

4. To consider planning applications –

• 20/0315/HOUS - 33 Hillman Close – It was agreed that the following comments be submitted – The application does not state the colour of rendering. This should be in keeping with neighbouring properties. 
• 20/0383/FUL – The Old Brickyard – It was agreed that the following comments be submitted – That Council does not object to the application but is concerned about the limited space for vehicular entrance and exit to the site. Council also considers that the times of opening and restrictions placed on other units in the Old Brickyard should be applied to the new unit if it is approved.

5. To receive a report on planning decisions received – A written report was received prior to the meeting.
Cllr Manders left the meeting at 19:43 and re-joined at 19:46.

6. To receive an update on the burial ground wall – A verbal report was given on the progress of repairs.
 

7. To receive an update on street lighting repairs – A verbal report was given outlining repairs due to be carried out.
 

8. To consider correspondence regarding trees in Bracebridge Heath – Members of the committee were encouraged to think of areas for tree planting. The clerk to council would investigate whether trees could be planted on grass verges.

Cllr Manders declared a non-pecuniary interest at 19:52 in matters relating to a tree on Bentley Drive.
 

9. To consider village heritage trails – Cllr Manders gave a verbal report on the route of the second heritage trail for the village. The first heritage trail was complete. Members recommended that the documents be printed and accessible in the library.
 

10. To consider Remembrance Sunday 2020 – It was agreed that the clerk to council begin work on preparations for Remembrance Sunday. It was not known whether COVID-19 would affect the delivery of the service and what changes, if any, would need to be made.
 

11. Items for the agenda of the next committee meeting – Christmas tree, footpath repairs.
There being no further business the chairman closed the meeting at 20.04
