An update on the Bracebridge Heath Village Hall
In April, the parish council announced that it would be taking on the responsibility for the management of the village hall and its lettings. We’d now like to update residents on the situation with the building. Since the termination of the lease and gaining entry to the building in early May, a condition survey has been carried out alongside inspections by council staff and other contractors. It has been identified that the building is going to need some significant repairs before it is safe and suitable to reopen, including repair to its roof. Given the number of repairs needed, the council is at the very early stages of considering whether a larger and more ambitious refurbishment should be undertaken while the building is still closed. No decisions have been made on this matter, but we wish to be as transparent as possible about the challenges that we face in reopening the village hall and the likely scale of the project.
The council understands the importance of this building to residents as a place for social gathering and welfare. We do hope to open the building as soon as possible but we also want to ensure that it meets the needs of our residents now and in the future. More information will be shared in the coming months.
