The council considered its budget and precept request on 17th January 2023. As a result of the village hall refurbishment project and the need to take out a loan to pay for the work, the council has had to raise the budget and precept.
The Band D equivalent will rise by £18.69 per year which equates to 23.31%. The council scrutinised the budget thoroughly, and despite inflation at nearly 10%, budget reductions were made in other areas to minimise the impact of the cost of the village hall project. This means that the increase to the precept request is almost entirely related to the village hall project, with just £2.35 per year or 2.94% (Band D equivalent) of the increase related to the remainder of the council’s annual budget.
