Draft recommendations consultation
19 May – 21 July 2026
NKDC has published a set of draft recommendations to amend the Bracebridge Heath parish boundary as requested by Bracebridge Heath Parish Council.
A Community Governance Review (CGR) is the legal process to change parish boundaries. The draft recommendations are the next stage in the CGR process.
If the draft recommendations are made final this would mean from 1 April 2027:
- A legally recognised parish boundary change.
- All parish-level services, admin, finance and elections for these areas transfer to Bracebridge Heath Parish Council.
- Two areas of land in Canwick move within Bracebridge Heath parish including
- 134 existing properties off Westminster Drive, Manor Lodge Bungalow, and Lodge Farm.
- Land north of Canwick Avenue (B1131) to the new boundary edge of Bracebridge Heath parish.
- Electors for these properties vote for Bracebridge Heath Parish Council on 6 May 2027. District Ward and Parliamentary Constituency voting remains unchanged for the time being.
It is not usual to have different parish and District/Parliamentary boundaries. However, the boundary changes are considered the best opportunity to support the local community and local parish governance.
If the draft recommendations become final, NKDC will ask the relevant organisations to consider changing the District and Parliamentary boundaries to align with the new parish boundary. Any elections held before this happens would use the legal boundaries in place at that time.
There is a public consultation from 19 May – 5pm on 21 July 2026, for residents and stakeholders in Bracebridge Heath or Canwick to let NKDC know if you agree or disagree with the draft recommendations.
