Cllr Kate Trought
I have lived in or around Bracebridge Heath for most of my life, watching it grow into the much larger and multicultural village that it is today. I was the first Residents’ Association Secretary in 1971. My late husband was a founder member of Bracebridge Heath Cricket Club and now has a memorial bench outside the pavilion. In the early 1980s we owned and ran the Mace Stores on Bentley Drive, becoming involved with many aspects of village life over the counter.
After my children went to school I returned to my teaching career working as the only SEMH AST [Advance Skills Teacher] in the East Midlands, organising and leading development courses for teachers and being called on to give advice and specialist support to secondary schools throughout the county, as well as teaching English and French within my own school.
I have always been very interested in our village and preserving its heritage for the generations to come and I knew it would be was only after I retired that I could devote the time to do the job properly.
Currently I am the chairman of the Amenities Committee and vice chairman of the Environment Committee. I am also a member of the Neighbourhood Plan sub Committee.
